A powerful winter storm system pounded the American heartland Wednesday and headed toward the Northeast, where people braced for the high winds and heavy snow that disrupted holiday travel, knocked out power to thousands of homes and were blamed in at least six deaths.

The storm’s winds were also blamed Tuesday for toppling a tree onto a truck in Texas, killing the driver, and a tree onto a house in Louisiana, killing a man.

About 1,400 flights nationwide had been cancelled by near midday Wednesday, according to flight tracking site FlightAware.com. More cancelations were likely, with Washington, New York and Philadelphia expected to see the most problems.

The system, which spawned Gulf Coast region tornadoes on Christmas Day and a historic amount of snow in Arkansas, pushed through the Upper Ohio Valley and headed toward the Northeast. Forecasts called for 12 inches to 18 inches of snow inland from western New York to Maine starting late Wednesday and into Thursday and tapering off into a mix of rain and snow closer to the coast, where little accumulation was expected in such cities as New York and Boston.

Thirty-four tornadoes were reported in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama during Tuesday’s outbreak, the National Weather Service said. The storms left more than 100,000 in the region without power for a while, darkening Christmas celebrations.

Camera footage captured the approach of the large funnel cloud in Mobile, Alabama, the biggest city hit by numerous twisters.

A large section of the roof on the city’s Trinity Episcopal Church was missing, said Scott Rye, a senior warden at the church.

On Christmas Eve, the church with about 500 members was crowded for services.

“Thank God this didn’t happen last night,” Rye said.

Many citizens of capitalist countries grow up in cultures that praise individualism and define success as owning bigger and better things.

Is this part of any party platform in the USA?

However, psychologists argue that a consumerist approach leaves many people unhappy. Some are challenging the consumption equals happiness mentality by intentionally living with less.

So how are people altering the cycle of consumerism?

The USA is a nation of consumers and they forget that having more than they need does not lead them to happiness! In most cases it leads to their demise, and they become greedy and loose site of those that can’t and have not the means to cope with society!

Neither Presidential candidate has addressed the pros and cons of consumerism in the United States? Having more and buying more is not the answer to success! You just think it is but look at what happens when you the successful person looses that all high paying job! You loose your dignity because you can not afford those things in which you thought made you a success! You lose your house, you loose your fancy car ect.

Now What! Oh! It can’t happen to me! Who are you kidding?

GUADALAJARA, March 22. – The Attorney General of the state reported that four suspects were arrested for a murder that occurred the morning of December 25, 2011 in the village Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.

He said that those arrested are Fernando Chavez Junior Arreola alias Junior, 20, Ernesto Ortega Rodriguez nicknamed the Brain, 21, Francisco Xavier Huerta Marroquin, 29, and Jose Francisco Mendoza aka Robledo Vale, 24.

All four are charged with the murder of Mena Junior Jimenez, 27, whose body was picked up around 4:40 am on Christmas Day, 2011, at the intersection of Long Street and Governor Curiel Pinos in Colonia Orchard Pines, in Tlaquepaque.

He said eyewitnesses reported that the now deceased had come to a liquor store to buy beer when he was approached by two persons, identified as Fernando Chavez Junior, aka Junior , and Ernesto Ortega, nicknamed the Brain , who demanded that he hand over the I had bought drinks.

As the young man refused to shock bundled with individuals, who though they were two retired to return accompanied by more and among all Junior Meza Jimenez beat and killed him, he said.

Procurement agents belonging to the Division of Judicial Orders orchestrated an operation by which they were detained three of the alleged killers in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara.

By obtaining data in Ciudad Guzman lay Robledo Jose Francisco Mendoza aka “the Gift”, the agents moved to that location and arrested him.

The four detainees against whom an arrest warrant was issued in the Third Criminal Court on charges of murder are in the Puente Grande prison.

CIUDAD JUAREZ, January 10 .- A six-year-old was fined by a traffic officer of the border, saying it had no license to drive a motorcycle that you got for Christmas.

The Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSPM) and also extended the fine Gael Santiago, the offender, was turned over to prosecutors, while the mother said that the situation was the reason why the unusual case came to public light.

The incident occurred when Gael, six years old, driving a Motovox trimoto known as a gated community, while his mother was still in his truck en route to the park in the sector, said the latter.

Two main groups operate in Cancun; Los Zetas and a late arrival known as Los Pelones. There are also reports that La Familia Michoacana has made inroads into Cancun and they may now control the drug trade in the tourist resort area of the city. 

The tourist areas facing the Caribbean are safe for visitors but the same cannot be said for the mainland city where the low wage tourist industry workers live, and a high crime rate persists.  The latest victim of cartel warfare was Domingo Jiménez Pérez, 34 years old, and originally from the state of Chiapas.  Jimenez’s decapitated body was found Thursday night in the interior of a taxi that had been carjacked earlier that afternoon.

The head was also in the taxi’s interior.  A narco message was placed next to the body that included a drawing of a christmas tree and read: “Esto le va a pasar a toda la gente del Mosco, Enrique Salinas Espino alias El Papaya, Homero Figueroa Meza alias El Tripa, El Burro y todos los que lo ayudan. Feliz Navidad, Jo, Jo, Jo”  This will happen to all the people of el Mosco; Enrique Salinas Espino, El Papaya; Homero Figueroa Meza, El Tripa; El Burro and all those that help them.  Merry Christmas, jo jo jo. 

 The Quintana Roo media did not mention a signature on the message.  El Mosco has been identified as Dámasso Antonio Lanché Avila, a bulk used clothes salesman that has been linked to Los Pelones and is said to be a cell leader of that group.  El Mosco survived an attempt on his life last month and may have been seriously injured.  Two other men were executed in Cancun last week . They were identified as Alfredo Arciga Paniagua and José Diego Morán Favila, both used car salesmen.

Their bodies were found inside a vehicle that was abandoned behind a private school in Cancun. Both had died from gunshot wounds and may have been executed by the same killers as Thursday’s homicide.  The men’s relatives stated that both victims were killed by Los Zetas for being unable to pay an extortion “cuota”.  Another explanation for the killing is that both men may be linked to Los Pelones and El Mosco. The Christmas themed message found in the vehicle read:  “Por extorsionadores y por ratas. Feliz Navidad Jo Jo Jo Jo”.  For being extortionists and rats. Merry Christmas Jo Jo Jo
